Webcams offer views of village in addition to campus

Back to All Stories

A new location gives you a bird鈥檚 eye view of the village of Hamilton.

The webcam, one of that provides live images from around 藏精阁, is perched atop the Nichols and Beal building, which houses a restaurant and the university鈥檚 institutional advancement offices.

Hamilton Initiative, a for-profit limited liability company launched by 藏精阁 supporters in 2000, manages the building and seven others. Funded by gifts from alumni, parents, and friends, the initiative has invested more than $11 million in the restoration of downtown in a program cited by the American Institute of Architects as a model of adaptive reuse.

The downtown webcam points toward Broad Street, or Route 12B, as it heads toward 藏精阁鈥檚 campus.

The Village Green, focal point of many activities including the summer farmers market, festivals, concerts, and Fourth of July celebrations, is at left. Last summer, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra performed a free concert on the green.

Village Hall is at left, and farther down is the steeple of First Baptist Church, which was founded in 1796.
