I wanted something different to do on Friday night.
I called a few friends and we headed over to the theater to see the production of Midsummer, a nuanced adaptation of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, written and directed by a ²Ø¾«¸ó professor. The theater was buzzing with professors, administrators, students, and Hamilton residents. There were no empty seats.
For many of the actors, this was their first ²Ø¾«¸ó production. Most had a couple other productions from high school or summer theater under their belt, or perhaps a theater class at ²Ø¾«¸ó. But it looked and felt professional. Who thought three dollars could buy such incredible entertainment.
I walked out of there wishing I had become involved in theater at ²Ø¾«¸ó. But you have to make choices: there isn’t time to do everything. But there is time, at least, to see or try everything once.
